“...As He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him.” - Luke 5:17-18 (NKJV)
In today’s verse, we read about the man who was bedridden and let down through the roof so that He could be healed. Previously we have learnt about the faith of his friends, about how our desperation causes God to move, how to get God’s attention etc., but not many see what I’m going to highlight to you today.
The Bible says that while Jesus was teaching, there was power present to heal. What’s interesting is that Jesus wasn’t there with an agenda to heal, yet the power to heal was there. What’s even more profound is that although the power to heal was present, not one other person was healed that day.
Although Jesus was teaching at the time, they recognised the opportunity for their friend to receive a miracle. If it wasn’t for their discernment, they would have simply been part of the crowd, listening to the message which Jesus brought, and leaving with their friend still paralysed.
Prophetic Declaration
I command my spirit to become sensitive to discern what God has for me. My miracle shall not pass me by! I declare and decree that my discernment will usher in a breakthrough that will leave people in awe, in the mighty Name of Jesus.
